The purpose of this blog is twofold: first, to analyze themes and paradigms in the field of development studies; and second, to consider current events and trends within the larger context of these existing conceptual frameworks.
I will start by discussing some of the differences between the neoliberal, Washington Consensus model of development and the government-involved industrial model utilized by China and various other emerging economies. The role of technological and information-led development in the process of development is another key theme I plan to address. I will also use this blog to analyze the implications of current events for these models, aggregate relevant information, and create a discourse via other blogs and articles.
